Staying Committed to Your Goals | A Zuitt Interview with RJ

—— Introduce yourself to the Zuitt Community.

I’m RJ Turingan. I recently completed my bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering. I was a working student. I worked as a Customer Service Representative and a career shifter. I’m one of the alumni of Zuitt’s batch 270. I am currently employed as an Associate Software Engineer for a company based in the Philippines.

It all started when I was in college. We had a thesis project on web development. I had no idea how to create a website because our college curriculum was more focused on hardware – that’s when my curiosity in web development started. At first, I tried to self-study, but I kept getting off track. There were just so many distractions whenever I studied. For example, I wanted to learn HTML and then I saw a lesson on TikTok or Facebook about CSS. I immediately got confused in how to do those things. There are just too many distractions.

Prior to that, I also searched for tech learning programs here in the Philippines. I checked Reddit, Facebook groups, and even Indeed. In all of the platforms and programs I checked, only Zuitt has many positive reviews. The alumni of Zuitt were also a big help by supporting these posts with their comments like: (1) Zuitt truly offers a genuine program. (2 ) Zuitt’s curriculum is great. (3) instructors are supportive. (4) The overall feedback is good. With these feedbacks,  I was fully  convinced to learn web development with Zuitt.

Finding Your Focus in Self-studying

Why did you enroll in Zuitt?

Zuitt is amazing because you’ll always have someone to support you. You will have your instructors and fellow classmates to join you with your activities. You can rely on them with your questions whenever you have something you don’t understand. We created  a discord group where we discussed difficult topics and learned from each other. Also, the instructors in Zuitt have so much patience when it comes to answering any of our questions.

I did try to self-study but it was just so difficult. For example, like what I also said earlier if you’re in the process of reviewing HTML but then see discussions about CSS or Javascript, it takes away your focus on HTML and makes you confused on what the actual points are. You would need to take note and remember. There’s just no roadmap. Even if you do have a roadmap, you’ll still be in a difficult situation because there will still be distractions. There’s a lot of content online about people’s advice on what you need to learn but others would argue to learn something else. It’s just way better if there’s a curriculum available for you where everything is laid out in a streamlined way just as how Zuitt does it.

A friend of mine had actually given me their self-studying roadmap, but like I said earlier, I had a difficult time applying it to my learning ethics because of distractions. Random stuff seen online such as a beautiful web design made me think ‘Oh, this is great, I wonder how I can do this?’ and I would end up neglecting learning the basics and fundamentals of web development because of it. It’s just very hard for me to manage. I tried for almost two months but in the end I felt like I learned nothing. That’s when I ended up knowing about Zuitt.

How was the program’s pacing?

This is what I really want to emphasize for those who doubt programs like these. They all think that the programs are all fast-paced. In Zuitt, it’s different. I really do believe it’s beginner-friendly. Even if the pacing is fast, the instructors really made the curriculum alive. Shout out to my instructor because from time to time, she always asks us if we’re okay and if we understood the lesson. You would eventually forget that the program is fast-paced. I have batchmates that are grab drivers or food panda delivery men while others have their own businesses without any background in web development at all. At the end of the day, all of us went through the breakthrough  (all of us finished the program.) Half of my batch is already employed, which means that the results from the program are really positive.

Zuitt’s Support System

What’s the best thing about Zuitt?

Aside from the curriculum, I think one of the best things about  Zuitt is their instructors. They’re highly knowledgeable in their respective fields. They ensure that the students not only receive valuable information but they also assure that they have a clear understanding of the lessons. That really is one of the best things in Zuitt. It’s not just from one instructor, we also had substitute instructors having the same factors. They make sure that all of the students really learn from the lessons. No one gets left behind. Even if one student is falling behind, let’s say our class ends at 9:30 pm, the instructors adjust their time to 10 or even 10:30 to make sure they address all the questions each student may have. That’s one of the most fulfilling parts of Zuitt.

I also like that they encouraged us to do challenging activities. The activities that they gave to us can be used in real-life scenarios. The activities are done for us to also prove our understanding of the subject matters. For me, the curriculum is actually just a bonus since it’s a given from Zuitt. The thing that made their program alive is truly the instructors and the activities.

Advice for future students

To Zuitt’s future students, I’d like to share that your journey at Zuitt will be a transformative experience. Embrace the challenges, stay committed to your goal, and always seek help when needed. Your instructors are there to guide you, your batchmates are your support system, and the skills you gain will open doors you never thought would be possible. Trust the process, believe in yourself, and work hard. If you’re looking for a sign or if you are really thinking of enrolling in Zuitt, this is your sign. I am proof that you can really trust Zuitt unlike the others. I can say this to you with confidence because like what I mentioned earlier, some of the batchmates I was with, went from changing their careers from drivers, HRM  graduates, delivery men to becoming tech career workers. All of us were career shifters who finished the program with more knowledge and expertise with the help of Zuitt and its curriculum. What Zuitt does is a big deal. Zuitt is not just a simple advertisement on Facebook or Youtube. When you join Zuitt, I’m 100% sure that you will be learning from them. You will learn the fundamentals and basics in web development, as well as the libraries and frameworks of multiple programming languages. Zuitt is a big help for me.

If you’re a future Zuitt student who is a career shifter or someone who has no background in coding, don’t have any doubts. Zuitt will be the one to help us to learn what we don’t know. It’s alright to be stressed or pressured sometimes from the activities. Just know that you should never shy away from asking any questions or advice to your instructors, especially to your batchmates.. I’m proof of Zuitt’s success and 100% sure that after the program, you will come out with the skills and confidence it takes to land a job.
