Congratulations, October 2016 Batch!

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try” – Gail Devers

January 17, 2017 marked the end, or rather the start of a new beginning, for our eight recently graduated coding boot campers. True to the words of Gail Devers, a highly successful retired female athlete, every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. These individuals, most of them being career-shifters, took the first step in pursuing their goal of entering the IT-industry when they applied for a slot in the bootcamp. Pursuing their passion for the last three months, these happy campers gained note-worthy experiences, knowledge and skills needed in the ever fast-changing world of IT.

When you embark for strange places don’t leave any of yourself safely at the shore. Have the nerve to go into unexplored territory.

Let’s face it. Learning a new language is hard. Learning 5 or 6 technical languages in a few months is definitely not going to be a walk in the park. However, acknowledging the fact that things are not gonna be easy makes a huge difference in properly conditioning the mind and setting real expectations. It requires a lot of effort, commitment and dedication from the student to achieve the bootcamp’s goal, including learning how to think like a programmer, apart from developing portfolio entries.

Our top three students of the batch best exhibited the above-mentioned traits which deemed them worthy of Tuitt’s notable achievement award.

Also exhibiting great dedication and hardwork are our 5 other boot campers. Here they are, donning proud smiles on their happy faces!

One of the lighter and fun portions of the program was the giving of special awards. The students themselves were the ones who voted to determine the winner in each specified category. “Kindness Counts”, “Outstandingly Organized” and “Friendly Neighbor” were some of the awards given, to name a few.

The event would not be complete without hearing an inspirational talk from our highly-respected guest speaker for the day, Sir Allister Alambra. He is a former lecturer at UP Los Banos’ Computer Science department, a consultant to several IT companies and an enterprise architect of an IT company.

You go, girl! 😀

As with any occasion, we took lots of pictures to remember this wonderful event. We’re more than happy to share them with you, our readers and maybe to some of you, our future boot campers 🙂

Once again to all our graduates, congratulations! Remember that we’re always rooting for you.

To cap off this post, let us leave you with some words from the late Steve Jobs:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
